Leather: Wickett and Craig's Traditional Harness Leather, Belly Cut.

We use the same leather for our hat patches that we use for our collars - Wickett and Craig's Traditional Harness Leather. We cut our hat patches from the belly of the hide, where the leather has a natural flexibility that's ideal for the application. It's one small example of a principle that guides everything we make: choosing the right material for the right purpose and making thoughtful use of it.

Hat: Adams LP101

Every hat is built on the Adams LP101—a garment-washed cotton twill, low-profile cap with a leather back strap and antiqued brass buckle. The Adams LP 101 is a well-represented classic on Cape for good reason - it takes a beating, wears in beautifully, and never looks out of place.

Thread: Amann Outdoor Pro, Tex 135

Amann Outdoor Pro is a bonded polyester thread commonly specified for sailmaking and marine canvas, which we use in a heavyweight Tex 135. It offers excellent resistance to UV exposure, moisture, and abrasion, ensuring the stitching lasts as long as the leather and the hat underneath it.

Foil: Kurz VB911 White Matte Foil

The design on each leather patch is applied using Kurz VB911 White Matte Foil, heat pressed directly into the leather. Kurz is widely regarded as the industry standard for hot stamping foils, chosen for its crisp detail, strong adhesion, and long-term durability.

Cleaning

For routine cleaning, rinse with fresh water. If the hat needs a deeper cleaning, use fresh water and a mild detergent. Avoid aggressive machine washing or harsh drying cycles, which can shorten the life of both the fabric and the leather patch.

Maintenance

The leather patch is perfectly happy getting wet. If it eventually begins to look dry, apply a small amount of leather conditioner and allow it to absorb.
